Hi again. Before I go ahead with sending my machine away for repair (see my other post) I just want to eliminate another error that I see on startup. I think it has been there a while, and doesn't affect anything - but it's best to check.
When I boot, this message appears very briefly, then login continues:
modprobe:FATAL:Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.28.9.20090416.kuki/modules.dep:No such file or directory
Any ideas what's going on here? Thanks.

That message is not fatal. That message is generated by a faulty ram boot image created by Ubuntu's tool. It is safe to ignore. The ram boot image is looking for the lib directory, however, it doesn't actually use it. From that kernel, you are probably running kuki pre release 1.6 or 1.7. Kuki 2.8 uses the latest ubuntu build tools which should fix that (even pure ubuntu would report the same error). So, it should not be the cause of your problems.
