Reporting for acerhdf unsupported bios error message

Kuki Linux 2.8 has the acerhdf module included to control the fan speed. For most people, it seems to be working well. For some, particularly those who may have upgraded their bios, it sometimes fails to load.

If you fall into that category, where it fails to load, if you would open a terminal window and issue the following commands:
sudo rmmod acerhdf
sudo modprobe acerhdf verbose=1
dmesg|grep acerhdf

And then copy and paste the output from the last command and post it here in the topic. I will see that the developer of acerhdf gets the output so he can work on what the problem is.

With regards to the actual problem we are looking into, acerhdf fails to load at all and gives an error message about an unsupported bios. It seems that if your acer came with bios 3309 (for example) things work. If you upgraded to bios 3309 (for example) then they don't work.

Well, here we go...
Note that I have not upgraded my bios.

$ sudo sh -c 'echo -n "enabled" > /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/mode'

$ ls /sys/class/thermal/

$ sudo rmmod acerhdf
ERROR: Module acerhdf does not exist in /proc/modules

$ sudo modprobe acerhdf verbose=1
FATAL: Error inserting acerhdf (/lib/modules/2.6.31-rc7-kuki-20090825/kernel/drivers/platform/x86/acerhdf.ko): No such device

$ dmesg|grep acerhdf

Here´s my output (upgraded to 3309)

using the echo -n "enabled" > /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/mode
to enable it does not work - permission denied whether as normal user or root but with sudo sh -c before it
does force it to work

Ive compiled acerhdf myself because its not working out-of-the-box in Kuki.
Now, with version 0.5.17:

"sudo rmmod acerhdf

ERROR: Module acerhdf does not exist in /proc/modules"

"sudo modprobe acerhdf verbose=1

FATAL: Error inserting acerhdf (/lib/modules/2.6.31-rc7-kuki-20090825/kernel/drivers/misc/acerhdf.ko): No such device"

...same problems :/

After upgrading to bios v0.3309:

The following line worked for me, because the driver could not get the product string correctly for my bios-upgraded A110.

sudo modprobe acerhdf force_product=AOA110

The original dmesg output was:
acerhdf: Acer Aspire One Fan driver, v.0.5.17
acerhdf: unknown (unsupported) BIOS version Acer/YYT��/v0.3308, please report, aborting!

Hi to all
This is my first post. I've bought a AAO571H yesterday. The kuki linux installation gone as expected but some (very) preliminary tests detected the problem discussed in this thread. No BIOS updates on this machine.

The webcam works well but I'm experiencing some problem with the sound card (ok: i know this is an OT here, but I'm confident to get out with this because in live mode the problem was absent... I will search in this forums topics dedicated to the problem).
